Rating: PG
Movie Release Date: November 21, 2008
DVD Release Date: March 26, 2009
Plot 411: A canine TV star named Bolt must use all his powers in the real world to find his way home to his human Penny.
Review: Bolt is a movie that both kids and parents will enjoy. There's humor, hardship, love and adventure in this animated flick starring John Travolta and Miley Cyrus. The dialogue is pretty snappy throughout the film and the characters are memorable, especially Rhino, played by Mark Walton. The animation is good, but not groundbreaking. It's a sweet film with lovable characters.
Watch It: If you liked Madagascar or Finding Nemo because it deals with animals and a journey.
Skip It: If you liked Cinderella or Snow White because there are no princesses or princes involved in this one. It's modern all the way.

Saw Bolt in the theater in 3-D with 3 kids.. loved it.. loved the concept, loved the characterizations..
the dog vs. cat stuff was hys-ter-ical when the Cat teaches the Dog about begging.. then later says, "stick your head out the window", and he says, "why would I do that?", and she says, "just trust me".. or something similar.. a Cat teaching a Dog to be a Dog.. effin priceless..

I don't remember ever seeing a movie in 3D growing up, but I just saw Up in 3D and was a little weirded out by the experience. It felt like I couldn't focus on anything - near or far - and that I was floating. Initial thought was, "So this is what the 60s felt like." LOL
sky..
the first 3-D remember seeing was the original 14 Ghosts with the ghosts in 3-D. Not much after that until Jaws III early 80's the one with Dennis Quaid and Lou Gossett, jr... cheesy 3-D effect choices but decent quality.. now they have 4-D with water spraying out of the deat in front of you so various characters can slobber, spit, or whiz on you, a movie-going moment i always look forward to..
Actually, all the 3-D technology and IP from the old days has been domiciled in an LA-based company called RealD.. you're likely to see a lot more 3-D for a while, maybe a whole lot more, until it either becomes standard fare, at least in animation, or runs its course.. agree with you that it's a bit distracting.. while we're trying to suspend disbelief, it keeps reminding that we're "at a movie"..
