The Black Hole

Rating: PG

Movie Release Date: December 21, 1979

DVD Release Date: August 3, 2004

Plot 411: A space shuttle's crew finds a long lost vessel in outer space and its sole inhabitant that they thought was lost.

Review: Seriously a good sci-fi try for the late '70s, but I completely lost interest after only 10 minutes into this movie. There's just no comparison to today's technology I guess. What I did enjoy were the pop and lock robots. I kept hoping they'd bust out the cardboard and break dance on the bridge. The effects of this film are pretty cheesy, but I suppose it was probably cutting edge for its time. Somehow the color is really odd but par for the course for this era. Maybe it's something to do with the film they used? Everything looks so saturated or at times is ultra bright. Star Wars it is not, despite its attempt to with the a heroic musical score.

Watch It: If you like classic sci-fi, otherwise, this isn't the movie for you.

Skip It: Because Flight of the Navigator and The Last Starfighter are way better.
